The Valentino brand was born in 1957 when Valentino Garavani opened a fashion house in Via Condotti in Rome with some members, including the designer's father. Valentino is a protagonist of international fashion and from 2008 to 2016 has experienced an impressive creative evolution. Valentino's international debut took place in Florence in 1962. Valentino's first fashion show at Palazzo Pitti had a warm welcome from the public and critics. In 45 years of activity, Valentino has had the honor of dressing some of the most beautiful women on the planet from Elizabeth Taylor to Sophia Loren, Sharon Stone and Farah Diba. But it was Jacqueline Kennedy who became his inspiring muse: the stylist dedicated her the famous white collection of the spring summer of 1968 and designed for her a magnificent dress for her wedding with Aristotle Onassis. Since the mid-sixties the Valentino brand became very popular, and in 1968 the US magazine Women Wear Daily called it "king of Italian fashion". In 1967 the designer received the prestigious Neiman Marcus Award. Since 1978, thanks to a collaboration with the Gruppo Finanziario Tessile, Valentino launched its own pret-a-porter line. In 1982, at the Metropolitan Museum in New York for the first time a fashion show was set up, dedicated to Valentino. The Valentino brand is the core brand of the entire company Valentino S.p.A., and includes the collections of high fashion for both women and men. These are products intended for a selected clientele, considering that they are part of the highest end of the market, or are even unique items tailored by the tailors of the atelier in Rome. Also included in the Valentino brand are the collections of wedding dresses , sunglasses, watches and perfumes, manufactured and marketed under license.
